We were the first surprised ones. Without much research, a friend, who is almost a brother, gave us the contact info of Carlos, who convinced us of the type of vehicle to buy for the project. Without even knowing it, he was starting to participate in this adventure. We went to meet him with a thousand practical questions; he opened the doors to his house, shared his experience and helped us get organized and the most important thing: he invited us to eat the most delicius “milanesas” of the whole world made by his wife Ana. He gave us lots of stuff, he searched through all his garage to find things that could prove useful for us, he even introduced us to a group of happy and open minded people to whom we asked lots of questions. It is obvious that we ended that day exhausted. Too much information, anxiety, and obviuosly many thoughts going inside our heads that generated more questions just after leaving the house.
In between these kombis and westys fans, there was Raúl, who we asked directly about his trip to Alaska made in 6 months with his wife. He said: “There are going to be many people who will discourage you to start your project, especially at the very last minute: don’t mind them. You will see that when you return, everything will find its place, I returned when I was 58 years old and everything turned out perfectly”; it was that moment of sincerity and transparency with us, newly introduced, that we felt in confidence to keep on asking for more of his stories and experiences. He was the one who introduced us to the third party in dispute, Gardenia.
One thing leads to another, goes the saying. In this case Don Carlos took us to Don Raúl and consequently to Gardenia. And with them to these families who shared conversations, advices and stories with us. The “Carlitos” who fed us, told us million of stories and searched for thousands of things and people who could help us, and the “Raulitos” who fully dedicated themselves to prepare Gardenia and leave it as new, and therefore everybody could take part of this trip to Alaska.
They are not a few, but lots of couples, children, friends, boyfriends, dogs, grandmothers and sisters-in-law. All of them gave us a hand and are part of the birth of this project.
THANKS in capital letters to all of them, a pleasure to meet you!<
